A few days ago, Apple announced that the iPhone 4 is coming to Verizon.  For those of you who can’t stand AT&T, the Verizon iPhone 4 is a sign of relief.  Now that the Verizon iPhone has been confirmed, and a February 10 release date is set, it’s just a matter of time before readers start to ask if the current iPhone spy apps will be compatible with the Verizion iPhone?

In theory, if the iPhone spy app works on the current iPhone 4, then it WILL work on the Verizon iPhone 4.  The only difference I see that could potentially cause a problem is that since the Verizon iPhone 4 doesn’t support simultaneous voice and data as compared with the current iPhone 4 version sold by AT&T and around the world.  Since a data connection is required in order to upload the logs that are recorded on the iPhone (text messages, emails, GPS location, photos, etc), then there could be delays in reporting.  Not sure how the iPhone spy app vendors will account for this, or if they’ll add in a change to the spy app to ensure that all the recorded logs are uploaded and perhaps a way to manage the back log of data that could occur if someone is on their phone for a long time.  The only other issue is that the new Verizon iPhone uses OS v4.2.5, whereas the current iPhones use OS v4.2.1.  This means that none of the iPhone spy app vendors will be able to test out their apps until the Verizon iPhone 4 is released, and when a jailbreak is available for OSv4.2.5.

What should you do if you want to monitor an Verizon iPhone?

The best advice is to wait a few weeks to give the iPhone spy software vendors time to test out their apps and make any necessary updates to the software.
